SutranetTower runs a full 3D finite-element analysis of 3-leg and 4-leg lattice towers and checks every member against the standard you pick — IS 875 Part 3 / IS 17740:2022 or ANSI/TIA-222-I (US LRFD). One model, one workflow, an interactive report in SI or US units. No install.

SutranetTower is a web-based structural design and analysis application for lattice communication and transmission towers. You model the tower once — its sections, taper, bracing pattern, antennas, feed lines and ladder — and the app builds a real 3D lattice, solves it with an OpenSees finite-element engine, and checks every leg, diagonal, horizontal and redundant against the design standard you select.
That choice is a single setting, and it changes the whole run. On the Indian path the app derives IS 875 Part 3:2015 wind pressures per direction and checks members to IS 17740:2022 / IS 800:2007. On the United States path it computes ANSI/TIA-222-I §2.6 EPA wind from the velocity pressure up, and checks the same lattice to §4 LRFD member strength — effective slenderness, local-buckling effective yield, combined bending and axial — using AISC shapes and ASTM grades, reported in US customary units.
It handles both 3-leg (triangular) and 4-leg (square) cross-sections, adds antenna, feed-line, ladder, seismic, atmospheric-ice and tornado loads, and envelopes every load combination to find the critical utilisation of each member. Everything runs in the browser — there is nothing to install, and the output is a single interactive report you can share or download as PDF.
In short: the tedious, error-prone parts of tower design — wind tabulation, load combinations, slenderness and capacity checks, connection detailing — done consistently, to code, in minutes.
From wind tabulation to bolted connections — the full workflow, on either code driver, generic over 3-leg and 4-leg towers.
A real OpenSees lattice model — every leg, diagonal, horizontal and brace solved in 3D, triangular or square, not a simplified stick approximation.
Switch the design standard between IS and ANSI/TIA-222-I and the whole run follows — wind basis, load combinations, capacity equations, catalogues and units.
Direction-by-direction wind pressures with the correct force coefficients for flat and round members, triangular and square faces.
Tensile yield and Perry-Robertson buckling, Annex F equivalent slenderness and per-role KL/r limits — tension and compression enveloped separately.
Velocity pressure from Kz, Kzt, Ke and Kd, gust response, the solidity force coefficient and the round-member reduction — per wind direction.
Effective slenderness from Tables 4-3 to 4-7, local-buckling effective yield, compression and tension resistance, and combined bending plus axial on the legs.
TIA §2.9 tornado loads with the applicability screen, seismic base shear (IS 1893 or TIA §2.7 ELF) and atmospheric ice — opt-in, and enveloped with the wind cases.
Panel and dish antenna wind, dead weight and torsion, coax and waveguide runs with cluster EPA, plus ladder / cable-tray loads and the climber live load.
Ring-flange, leg-splice and bracing connections — IS 800 §10.2 detailing, or TIA §4.9 with Annex Q flanges — fed the real enveloped demand.
AISC single and double angles, round HSS and solid round bar with ASTM strengths, alongside the IS 808 / IS 1161 catalogues — and every input and report switches between SI and ft / in / kip / ksi / mph.
A self-contained report with a 3D viewer, deflected shape, force colouring, member schedule, clause-by-clause capacity tables and a paginated PDF.
One-click .std export of the IS model, with load cases and IS 17740 / IS 800 combinations, so you can carry it into STAAD.
Every load and check traces back to a clause — no black boxes. Pick the standard your project is designed to, and the whole run follows it.
Choose the design standard and units, set the tower type, height and taper, pick a bracing pattern, and add antennas, feed lines, ladders and site wind — all in a visual builder.
The 3D FE engine solves every wind direction and load combination, checks each member against the selected code, and flags the critical utilisations.
Review an interactive report with a 3D viewer and member schedule, in SI or US units, and download the PDF.
Each video works through a real tower in the app: what to enter, why, and where it shows up in the report. New to the program? Start with Introduction and Your first tower, then pick the topics you need.
Turn around tower designs and code checks faster — on Indian or US standards — with a report you can hand to a client or reviewer.
Verify existing towers for new antenna and feed-line loading, or size new masts for a rollout — without a full FE licence.
Optimise member sizes and bracing from the AISC or IS catalogues, then take the model onward for detailing and fabrication.
